Your email domain on the Lavabox servers is to receive incoming email. Because of security issues, we prefer that you send email using the mail server provided by your Internet Service Provider.
Chances are good that you have already setup an email account that uses your Internet Service Provider's facilities, so the first step is to determine what the name of their SMTP (outgoing) server is.
From your Outlook Express inbox screen, click "Tools" and then "Accounts"
Step 1a. Making your way to the mail server settings.
Click once on the account that is already setup. This will select it. Then click the "Properties" button.
You may already have more than one account setup. In that case, select the default mail account, and click "Properties."
Step 1b. Select the default mail account.
You will be presented with a menu with five tabs. Click the "Servers" tab.
You will see the name of the default SMTP server. Make a note of it, as you will need it when setting up access to your new email account.
Then click the Cancel button to get back to the previous menu.
Step 1c. Note the SMTP server name
When you click the "Cancel" button from the previous step, you will be taken back to the same menu that you saw in step 1b. This time, click the "Add" button.
On the menu that pops up to the right, click "Mail..."
Step 2. Add new mail account
When you send email from this account, it will show up in the recipient's mailbox as coming from someone. You specify that information here.
You can enter your personal name, your company name, or anything else here that will identify you to your email recipients.
Click the "Next" button to continue.
Step 3. Entering your "Display Name"
This is an important piece of information to enter. When someone receives email from you and clicks the "Reply" button to respond to you, it will send the email to the address you specify here.
Step 4. Enter your return E-Mail address
This information is critical for Outlook Express to be able to retrieve and send email.
1. Make sure that you select "POP3" to describe the incoming mail server.
2. When you received a setup email from your friendly Lavabox Tech Support person, it would have specified the name of the mail server. Enter that name in the "Incoming Mail Server" box.
3. For the "Outgoing Mail Server" specify the SMTP server that you determined in step 1C.
Step 5. Specifying your mail servers
Enter the account name and password that were indicated on the email that you received from your friendly Lavabox Tech Support person. The account name will likely be the same as your email address and in any case will contain your domain name.
Step 6. Specify your Account name and Password
